Donations to the Mineralogy Museum in 2015

        

Thanks to all who contributed to the growht and the reputation of our museum and our collections for this year 2015!

 

Donations from individuals

 

This year, we received gifts from enthousiasts who offered new mineral species or minerals from unrepresented localities. The year of 2015 was a good year, especially for reference material, however there are a few pieces that ended up on exhibit.

 

- Numerous samples coming from the Ihosy District in the Horombe Region, in Madagascar, including sapphires, spinels, garnets, etc. (#83355 to 83376), given by Mr. Alexandre Eichler. These minerals are perfect reference samples from the Ihosy locality.

- A sample of ferrinatrite from Coronel Manuel Rodriguez Mine, Mejillones, Chili (#83348), given by Mr. Philippe Font.

- 2 series of blue sapphires from France, one from Issoire and the other from Pontgibaud, in Puy-de-Dôme (#83330 et #83331), given by Mr. Alexandre Eichler.

- A pseudomorph of calcite after ikaite from the Taimyr Peninsula, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia (#83326), given by the MIM museum. This specimen is on exhibit in Room K, display case 32.
